Why you should have the thought of uranium in ur-cranium

Imagine hearing a city near you has been hit by a nuclear bomb. Imagine seeing your city getting hit by a nuclear bomb. Not something anyone wants to happen, I would think. Nuclear weapons are certainly also a threat as long as the technology is out there, in the wrong hands.

About 30,000 nuclear weapons are estimated to exist, 22,ooo of which are in the Russia/middle east region and possibly in the wrong hands. By “the wrong hands”, I mean people with the potential to use the weapons for acts of terrorism. Currently, only the U.S., Britain, France, China, India, Pakistan, Isreal and North Korea have nuclear weapons/the capability to build them, and Iran is under close watch for suspected nuclear programs. However, people are not immune to corruption, and will sell the nuclear weapons or the proper tools/blueprints to build them.

Most Americans don’t think about the threat of a nuclear attack very often, but it is more probable than some may think. The fact that North Korea, one of our nations in the “axis of evil”, has the ability to build and use nuclear weapons scares me. What if we never got knowledge of their ability? We wouldn’t even be here to discuss it, I would think.

We always have to be prepared. Nothing is completely certain, especially when it involves the activites of the government. Nuclear weapons are a danger to us, especially with all the hate of the U.S. out there, and people willing to do anything for their religion. All its gonna take for an attack is some secret exchange of blueprints.

  1. This is an intesrsting and creative article. You are right. Not everybody thinks about nuclear weapons seriously. They think it does not matter to them. However, you should give some ideas about how we should prepare for that. What should we do? Killing everyone/every country that knows how to build nuclear weapons. That is not a good idea. as you said, they did that for some reasons ( defend themselves with terrorism). That is a very top question. We all know about how dangerous nuclear weapons are. But we do not know how to deal with that wisely.

  2. First of all, your author name is “I like war”. You’re kidding, right? If you do so much research on the topic, don’t you realize that it’s wrong? Still, I agree with you: we must be prepared. I couldn’t possible imagine what it would be like to not know where they are at any moment. Nice work.

  3. Nuclear weapons have and always will be a threat. No country has the audacity to use a weapon unless they are directly threatened. The united states is on record one of the worlds largest arms dealers. The backlash from a nuclear missle strike would be so severe that the action would not be worth doing. The threat has existed since its invention. Yes it shouldn’t have been invented, but the destruction of nuclear technology is impossible. The only real solution is to push for peace.

  4. Well, It’s strange to try and believe that countries such as North Korea are bad for having nuclear weapons. As Americans, we appear to be hypocritical about other countries having notes, when we ourselves have several. Our justification for it is that, they, unlike us, have terrorists, who will use these for acts of violence. What is the point of having nukes? Obviously for violence, or for striking fear into others. I think we should either leave others alone, or get rid of our own first.

  5. I stand by my thoughts I had when making my name…war is good and I like it.

  6. I concur with ilikewar, on nukes though, there a threat but no one’s ever gonna use them. I hope at least.

  7. When it comes to nuclear weapons I am really not that informed and I really do not think or really care about them at all. I don’t care at all if other countries have them, i just would not want them to use them on us.

  8. I believe that you make a good point about the danger of nuclear weapons being in the hands of terrorists, but the chance of us being successfully attacked with nuclear weapons is very low. The terrorists may be able to launch the weapon towards us, but the U.S. has very technologically advanced missile tracking systems to prevent these types of events. We would be able to disable the weapon long before it would even be in the range of endangering us.
